Pot Limit Poker
Pot Limit Poker is a very exciting game which is favored by
many European poker players. At Hailmary you can play Pot
Limit games of
Omaha Hi, Omaha Hi/Lo, Texas Hold'em,
as well as in Pot Limit
Tournaments.
General Rules for Pot Limit Poker: Once you know how to play Omaha Hi, Omaha Hi/Lo,
and Texas
Hold'em, the rules for Pot Limit become very easy to learn. The
difference between regular Limit games and Pot Limit games is the
betting amounts.
Minimum Eligible Raise: The raise amount
must be at least as much as the previous bet or raise in the same
round. As an example, if the first player to act bets $10 then the
second player must raise a minimum of $10 (total bet of $20).
Maximum Eligible Raise: The size of the
pot. The size of the pot is defined as the total of the Pot in the
middle plus all bets on the table plus the amount the active player
must first call before raising. As an example, the pot in the middle
is $20 and the first player to act in the round bets $15 and the
next player calls $15. The third player has a maximum eligible total
bet of $80. The $80 total is his $15 call and $65 raise. The $65 max
raise portion is equal to the pot of $20 + first player's $15 +
second player's $15 + his own call of $15.
Note: There is no cap to the number of raises in Pot Limit
games.
When playing at Hailmary you have a betting "slider" which
allows you to bet many amounts between the minimum and maximum
allowable bet size.
At each Pot Limit table there is a Maximum Buy-In amount.
Hailmary currently has three different maximum buy-in amounts
of $50, $100, $200 and $400 in order to ensure all players have an
opportunity to be competitive at Pot Limit without having to compete
against players with thousands of dollars in front of them.
Pot Limit games can be thrilling and for newer players we recommend
getting familiar with the large betting amounts at the Tournament
tables where you can better control the amount of money you wish to
risk.
All-In Policy: If you are connected to the game server when
it is your turn to act in a No Limit or Pot Limit game and you
timeout by not acting within the allowable 30 seconds, your hand
will be FOLDED. These rules are in place to protect the integrity and
fairness of the games for all players, including yourself.
